Johnny Depp Loses UK Appeal, British People are Free to Call Him a Wife Beater

This Johnny Depp and Amber Heard story just keeps getting weirder.

Johnny Depp lost his appeal in the UK against The Sun, so in the eyes of the British government, Johnny Depp is a wife beater. Here’s why the appeals judges made that ruling, as reported by the AP.

The justices, James Dingemans and Nicholas Underhill, said the earlier court hearing was “full and fair” and the trial judge’s conclusions “have not been shown even arguably to be vitiated by any error of approach or mistake of law.”

They concluded that “the appeal has no real prospect of success and that there is no other compelling reason for it to be heard.”

Now that’s the weird part. I don’t think it’s the right judgment, but what’s bizarre is Amber Heard’s claim that she actually been donating the divorce settlement money she publicly pledged to two charities, she’s just been doing it anonymously. This comes after she previously claimed she was totally going to donate the money but Johnny Depp’s lawsuit he filed well after the fact prevented her from doing so.

Heard claims she pledged to make the payments to charity over the course of ten years. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that if you invested 7 million dollars in an index fund that has an annual yield of 7%, you’d have made nearly 7 million dollars in interest at the end of ten years. Weird, right? I wonder why Amber Heard insisted Depp pay her and not send the money directly to her chosen charities.

Depp and Heard are still set to litigate this issue in an American court, where the results actually count.
