Music Legend DMX Reportedly Not Recovering Brain Function After Heart Attak

Even if you don’t know the name DMX, you’re probably familiar with his hit song ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’. It appeared in iconic scenes in Rick and Morty and Deadpool and was even featured in a Chex cereal commercial.

It’s almost undoubtedly the best song of the past 20 years. Certainly the most recognizable.

DMX himself, real name Earl Simmons, is in grave condition following a drug overdose and a heart attack. TMZ reports that he’s not recovering any brain function and his family is going to need to decide if they should remove him from life support.

I’m no medical expert, but my limited knowledge in these matters is that after being deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes, it’s very unlikely that you’re going to recover.

DMX has been reported as being in a “vegetative state,” which you might recall is the same condition Terri Schiavo was in for 15 years before being removed from life support.

It would be great if he recovered somehow. It really would. He’s only 50, we’ve lost enough great musicians too young. But it’s not likely he’ll recover. Our thoughts are with his family as they go through this incredibly difficult time.
