I’m not the type of person to get on my high horse about being mean on the Internet. You’re reading this website, you know what it is we do here. But we own that we’re mean. Sure, I give my opinions on broader social trends and whatnot, but I’m not going to sit here and say that I say mean things about celebrities because I think it’ll make the world a better place, I do it because it’s funny.
Chrissy Teigen has been trying to turn being mean on Twitter into some sort of social issue because she’s only mean to people who “deserve it” now. But that’s sort of biting her in the ass since Courtney Stodden revealed that Teigen went above and beyond to bully them when Stodden was 16 and Teigen was 25.
She definitely, even at the time, gave the mean things she said about Stodden an air of “I’m doing a feminism by being mean, you guys.”
Stodden told The Daily Beast that Teigen not only publicly made fun of them, but that the model used to DM them things like “I can’t wait for you to die,” and would tell them to kill themself.
Teigen, who is back on Twitter after making a big show of leaving is totes sorry now, though.
is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel. I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!

Now, maybe Teigen is making a change, she hasn’t been nearly as mean since her return to Twitter. Of course, she also hasn’t talked about politics at all, either, so it’s pretty easy to be nicer when 90% of your tweets are about food. You know, unless you’re Gordon Ramsey.
