Matthew McConaughey Passes on Running for Governor of Texas

Did Matthew McConaughey get enough press for his new book? Probably because McConaughey posted a video on Twitter and Instagram, saying he’s not running for Texas governor.

McConaughey said running for governor is a “humbling and inspiring path to ponder”, but one he’s “choosing not to take at this moment.”

All these celebs like McConaughey and Caitlyn Jenner need their egos stroked. Dallas Buyers Club was a great movie, but not sure that would make McConaughey a great governor.

Polls actually had McConaughey beating current Texas governor Greg Abbott. I’m assuming it’s because McConaughey actually had a lot of Republican support and could pull in the independents. Look at me, I’m FiveThirtyEight!
