Bill Cosby Ordered to Pay for ‘Sexually Offensive Contact’ With 16-Year-Old

A jury found Bill Cosby, 84, guilty of causing harmful or offensive contact with a 16-year-old in 1975. Judy Huth accused Cosby of grabbing her hand and masturbating himself with it. I don’t know why there isn’t jail time for this, but Huth receives $500,000 and no punitive damages. Cosby’s legal team seemed happy in court. According to Variety, “[w]hen the verdict was read with no punitive damages found, Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, smiled in the gallery and his team of lawyers was gleeful, as they exited the courtroom.”

The alleged incident occurred at the Playboy Mansion. Cosby allegedly lured Huth and her friend to the mansion days after meeting them in the park. Cosby allegedly got Huth alone in the bedroom, then pulled down his sweatpants and made Huth, or Huth’s hand, masturbate him.

Variety gives the more info on the charges and jury’s decision:

…the jury found that Cosby did intend to cause a harmful or offensive contact with Huth and that a “sexually offensive contact” resulted, while also finding that Hugh was harmed by Cosby’s conduct. The jury concluded that any “normal person, without hesitation” would have been “disturbed, irritated, offended or injured” by Cosby’s conduct. Nine jurors voted they agreed that Cosby’s conduct was motivated by an “unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in a minor,” while three jurors did not agree.

Forcing a 16-year-old to jerk you off doesn’t get you jail time? I don’t know how this works.

Huth said she was “elated” and that the decision was “a long time coming”.

Huth has been fighting Cosby for 7 years on this, so today brings an end to her case.

Meanwhile, Cosby was freed late last year and for some reason, this guy is still free to walk the street. This guy allegedly roofied a ton of women in Hollywood. Yet, only one case landed him jail time. Makes no sense to me.
