Being Humiliated Once Wasn’t Enough for Amber Heard

Yes sir, can I have another? So says Amber Heard who filed yet another appeal to the verdict in her Johnny Depp defamation trial.

By now, you know that Heard owes Depp $8.3 million dollars. Depp received a $10.3 million judgement against her, while Heard received a $2 million judgement. In effect, she owes Depp $8.3 million.

Heard had previously filed an motion for a new trial, citing juror fraud. Her lawyers claimed a notice was sent to the address where both father and son lived. The son served on the jury, but the notice was meant for the father said Heard’s lawyer.

The judge rejected the claim. In the process, the judge also smacked Heard down, telling her she only cited this reason because she lost.

Now, Heard filed yet another notice of appeal in Virginia. The documents do not state specific reasons.

Heard’s spokesperson stated:

We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. We are therefore appealing the verdict. While we realize today’s filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice.

That gives you an idea where their argument is headed: the First Amendment. Yet, according to Insider’s analysis, while “the First Amendment enshrines Americans’ right to freedom of speech, the doctrine does not protect against defamatory speech — false statements that are presented as fact and do subsequent harm.”

Depp doesn’t sound concerned about Heard’s new appeal. His spokesperson said:

The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp in multiple instances. We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand.

Are Heard’s lawyers legally required to keep working for Amber? At this point and after seeing Heard on the stand, her lawyer Elaine Bredehoft should fake an injury and withdraw.

On top of that, Heard says she doesn’t have any money to pay the judgement, which could be a lie to get out of paying.

But Aquaman did not pay her that well, how’s she afford her lawyers.

If there’s one thing lawyers want, it’s money.
