Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez on Euphoria, announced on Instagram stories today that she’s leaving the show. The way she said it, sounds like she was fired.
after four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye. i hope many of you could see yourself in her like i did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today.

When she said HAVING to say goodbye, that’s not voluntary.
The Daily Beast reported months ago that Ferreira and director Sam Levinson butted heads over her character. That led to Ferriera leaving the set twice and not showing up to the season premiere party. Their clashes were also rumored to be why Ferriera’s screen time was cut. In response to the rumors, Ferreira only said:
Kat’s journey this season is a little more internal and a little mysterious to the audience. She is secretly going through a lot of existential crises. She loses her marbles a little bit — just like everyone else in this season. The theme is everyone’s gone a little crazy.
I don’t know what Ferreira wanted from her character. But you’re in Hollywood, you’re getting work as an actor and that’s hard to do. Actors film so many pilots. Look how many get picked up.
Unless Levinson was suggesting something way out there and over the line, just clock in, get the paycheck and enjoy taking part in a good show. You don’t get that many chances as an actor.
