Tracy Morgan and Others Critically Injured After Crash, One Dead

Tracy Morgan was returning from a standup show in Delaware when his Mercedes limo bus carrying seven people overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury Township at about 1 am. The limo, which had slowed down due to traffic, was rear-ended by a Walmart tractor trailer that failed to notice the change in traffic. It attempted to swerve but it was already too late. The crash set off a chain reaction which involved another tractor-trailer, 2 cars and an SUV.

James McNair who performed under Jimmy Mack died at the scene. Morgan and Jeffrey Millea were flown to a nearby hospital where they were listed in critical condition. Another passenger, Ardie Fuqua Jr. was also in critical condition. Harris Stanton was treated and released while two others in the limo were unhurt, including the driver.

Kevin Roper, the truck driver from Georgia manning the Walmart truck that crashed into Morgan’s limo, has been charged with death by auto along with four counts of assault by auto. He’s expected to turn himself in on Sunday.

Walmart, meanwhile, has stepped up saying they’d take full responsibility for the crash and that they will pay expenses for the victims.
