Philip Seymour Hoffman Left His Children Nothing

Cooper, 10, Tallulah, 7, and Willa, 5, will get absolutely nothing from their dad Philip Seymour Hoffman’s will. Hoffman, who died from a drug overdose, didn’t want his kids to become trust fund babies so he did what a few before him have done. Left them with zilch. Nada. A big fat goose egg. Hoffman hoped that without that safety net, his kids would develop a work ethic. Unlike spoiled brats such as Paris Hilton and Brody Jenner who latch on to any current trend in an attempt to bleed as much money out of it as they can despite having no talent whatsoever.

Going against his accountant’s suggestion, Hoffman instead left his $35 million fortune to his longtime girlfriend, Mimi O’Donnell, their mother. Another part of his will requested his son grow up in one of three culture hubs.

“It is my strong desire [that] my son, Cooper Hoffman, be raised and reside in or near the borough of Manhattan [or] Chicago, Illinois, or San Francisco, California,” he said in the will.

It was written in 2004 before the births of his two daughters.

“The purpose of this request is so that my son will be exposed to the culture, arts and architecture that such cities offer,” the Broadway and Hollywood star wrote.

I’d like to have been in the room when their mom told them they won’t get one cent from that $35 million. You could probably pinpoint the exact moment their hearts break in two.

Why are people so stupid when it comes to this stuff? Most people leave jack s**t to their kids until their spouse or SO passes away, which is no different than what PSH just did. All goes to his Significant Other, then she leaves it to the kids upon her death. And she now uses it to support them as well.

Man, the press are idiots. Seriously.

I agree that the average guy just leaves the money to the spouse, but wealthy folks often leave some money directly to the kids to make sure that their spouse/partner doesn’t run through the money or cut out the kids. Also, if she lives a long time, the kids won’t have the money when they might need it, e.g., to go to college. Still, I agree that it’s not such a huge deal.

Yeah I’m sure the 5 year old girl understood perfectly and her heart broke in two. Ofcourse.
Their mother has the money, its not like they’re out broke on the streets. She’s going to use it to raise them properly in those expensive cities.

He trusts the woman he loves to handle the finances. Nothing wrong with that. I also agree that most parents don’t leave money to their children directly at that age.

So he left it to his whore wife and not his spawn? Good thing he’s dead.
