Hilary Duff caught some flack from Twitter for kissing her 4-year-old son on the lips.
Though most people thought the picture of herself and her son in Disneyland was a sweet little moment, it’s Twitter, so there has to be a few assholes. Some deemed it inappropriate for her to kiss her son on the lips and gave other unsolicited parenting advice.
Other commenters said “I personally feel you should not kiss a child in that way… maybe your husband but not your kid” and another came with “y is she making out with her son?”
Hilary was not having it. “For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four year old is ‘inappropriate’ go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgment.”
Again, most of her followers applauded Duff standing up for herself against the needless judgement of the internet. It is refreshing to see a celebrity essentially tell people to f**k off instead of issuing some BS apology. Also, this isn’t some Trump-Ivanka photo, this is clearly an innocent, motherly picture.
Duff is used to hearing comments about her parenting. Being a mom and a public figure, people feel they have a right to chime in on every little thing she does. “When he was 2, well, that’s when children learn to throw tantrums,” she said. “I can’t help it if someone’s taking a picture when I’m taking him to get a haircut — and he hates haircuts and he doesn’t like the photographers and throws a tantrum and then there’s a headline: ‘Can’t Control Her Child!’”
Most of the Twitter rage has died down, but know there will be people waiting, waiting patiently for Duff’s next little slip, so they can feel the great superiority of calling a celebrity a bad mom.
People need to chill the f*** out, also maybe pick up a copy of The Five Love Languages while they’re at it.
