Ginger God Ed Sheeran to Slay Dragons with Guitar in ‘Game of Thrones’

Ed Sheeran just dropped his latest album Divide. And soon, he’ll be dropping panties in Westeros as he guest stars on season seven of Game of Thrones. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss confirmed the news during their SXSW panel over the weekend.

This isn’t the first time a musical guest has appeared on the show with Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Will Champion (one of the guys who isn’t Chris Martin in Coldplay), and others making a cameo, but Sheeran is certainly the biggest guest star.

The appearance comes courtesy of Maise Williams, who is a big fan of Sheeran. Apparently, they’ve been trying to get him on the show for years to surprise her, and it finally came together this year.

Hey, I’m a big fan of Sheeran as well. You think he will play my wedding in a month? Is that not how this works?

No word yet on what Sheeran’s role will be, but I assume he’ll be singing sweet nothings to Sansa. If nothing else, at least he’s a recognizable face in a show full of faces that I still don’t know after six seasons. Hopefully, he bundles up. I’ve been told winter is coming for six years now and sooner or later those weathermen are bound to be right.
