Avicii Took His Own Life with a Broken Glass Bottle

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, Avicii’s death has been ruled a suicide.

TMZ is reporting that the DJ used glass to cut himself. The sources agree that he broke a bottle and used the glass to inflict the wound. However, they disagree one where he cut himself. One source claims the fatal wounds was on his neck, while another source claims he slit his wrists.

Avicii’s family released a statement last week, alluding that his death was a suicide, before any official information came out.

He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness.

He could not go on any longer.

He wanted to find peace.

The “Wake Me Up” spinner battled alcohol problems for years. He retired from touring at 26 due to health issues including acute pancreatitis and was found dead at the age of 28 in the Middle Eastern country of Oman.

The struggle with “meaning, life, [and] happiness] that his family talked about showed in the charities that Avicii supported throughout his young life. He began by helping out organizations focused on hunger, and later branched out to HIV/AIDS-focused charities.

After being thrust into the international spotlight with his breakout hit in 2011, Avicii and Pournouri founded House for Hunger, a nonprofit that aimed to raise $1 million via ticket sales from the artist’s 25-date January tour across the United States.

A year later, he’d donate another million, this time in Euros, to Swedish charity Radiohjalpen. According to a message from its founder, Avicii’s generous offering helped found its Hunger Aid division, which was used to feed children in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Before his death, Avicii had made plans for new music. He invited Joe Janiak, a producer who’s worked with Tove Lo and Ellie Goulding, to Los Angeles for some songwriting sessions. We might see some posthumous releases from Avicii, as they finished up a collection of songs. According to Janiak, there was no reason to believe anything was wrong.

“You could tell he had spent a long time figuring out the puzzle, and he was trying to take charge of his life…He seemed pumped. That’s the shocking thing. He didn’t seem like a guy at the end of his days.”

The pair made plans to get together after Avicii’s return. Unfortunately, that never happened.

Coulda been worse. He could have lived and still be making music.
