Trump’s Disastrous Omaha Rally Highlights His Historically Terrible Music Choices

I think Donald Trump is being trolled by someone inside his campaign. There’s really no other way to explain his baffling choices in his campaign music which was very starkly highlighted at his Omaha rally Tuesday night.

I actually can’t believe President Trump is the person who uploaded that video.

You see, hours before this tweet, Trump left a rally in Omaha by helicopter while his supporters were unable to get buses or shuttles to their car and were forced to walk three miles to their cars.

Setting aside that John Fogerty keeps suing Trump to stop him from the Creedence Clearwater Revival song ‘Fortunate Son’, I am just shocked that Trump would even want to use it.

If you’re not familiar with the song, Fogerty wrote it to express his anger that the rich and powerful were able to avoid serving in Vietnam, the fortunate sons that Fogerty wasn’t one of. Donald Trump is the fortunate son of the song, right down to his medical deferment from Vietnam, and it’s not a good thing.

Trump isn’t actually the first presidential candidate to use ‘Fortunate Son’; John Kerry played the song at rallies in 2004, the implication at the time being that George W Bush was the fortunate son in the song as Kerry, like Fogerty, was a Vietnam veteran.

Ronald Reagan also famously played Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born in the USA’ at rallies in the 1980s, a song about the poor treatment the US gives to poor people and veterans that I can’t imagine anyone in the Reagan campaign ever listened to. This played out again when his Vice President, George HW Bush, used the socialist anthem ‘This Land is Your Land’ as a campaign anthem.

How does this keep happening? Bill Clinton is seemingly the only presidential candidate in my lifetime to not pick a song that doesn’t totally undermine their message.

Donald Trump has also been playing a lot of The Village People at his rallies, but since he’s also talking a lot about kissing men at his rallies since he had COVID, that one might be intentional.
