Adrian’s Kickback Was Not so Chill; 150 Arrested at Viral TikTok Party

There is some historical evidence to suggest that the reason the Roaring Twenties were so roaring is that people needed to let loose after the Spanish Flu pandemic and World War I ended. With the available vaccines doing a pretty good job of getting the COVID pandemic under control, people are clearly looking to party the way they did 100 years ago. Almost exactly the same way based on all The Great Gatsby-themed parties recently thrown by people who entirely missed the point of The Great Gatsby.

Let’s look at Adrian’s kickback, an open invitation to a birthday party some dude named Adrian posted on TikTok, presumably for his friends. He invited people to “pop out n celebrate my bday,” but the post went viral and things got a little out of hand.

By a little out of hand I mean NBC reported that 150 people were arrested.

Police arrested 121 adults and 28 juveniles Saturday night, Jennifer Carey, a police spokesperson, told NBC Los Angeles. The charges included vandalism, firing dangerous/illegal fireworks, failure to disperse and curfew violations, NBC Los Angeles reported.

The police apparently cracked down on this crowd so hard you would have thought it was an unarmed black guy minding his own business.

NBC reported the police confirmed they used “less lethal” weapons on the crowd.

If you haven’t put two and two together yet, police don’t shoot crowds with paintballs, but they do shoot pepper balls, which are essentially paintballs filled with pepper spray.

That’s not a kickback. No one is kicking back in that video. That is very much not chill.
