R.I.P. Michael Jackson aka The King of Pop

Here’s my piss poor attempt at a tribute to Michael Jackson. Why Michael and not Farrah Fawcett or Ed McMahon? Because while all these deaths are sad and tragic, Michael is the most recent and I suck at tributes so I picked the easiest for me.

Plus on the day of his death, he crashed most of the internet. Twitter, Facebook, Google, TMZ and other sites all felt the hand of Michael. Not the gloved hand either, but the pimp hand. Oh yea and also I probably made fun of him way too much after his death. For that, he gets a free pass to kick me in the balls from beyond the grave. But only Michael. Not you Benjamin Franklin. What have you ever done for me? Electricity? Pffft.

You guys probably all know the story so I’ll keep it short and sweet. Born in 1958, Michael Jackson broke onto the music scene at only 11 years of age as a member of The Jackson 5. This led him into a solo career which saw him become one of the most influential entertainers in history earning him the title of the King of Pop. His Thriller album still remains the best selling record of all time. He invented the moonwalk which to this day people still try to imitate, not to mention the ingenious Smooth Criminal 45 degree lean which baffled everyone the first time it was done. Even a lot of this generation’s artists such as Chris Brown (ok, bad idea using him as an example, but go with it) credit Michael as one of their biggest influences.

Everyone had a profound respect for Michael. No matter what he did or may have done no one could take away the joy and wonderment he instilled in people. I’ll always remember him for that. That and the time he turned into a transformer in Moonwalker.
