Today in autopsies and toxicology reports…

Michael Jackson’s toxicology report came in and sources say Jackson was indeed injected with a lethal amount of the anesthetic Propofol. However, that wasn’t all. They also found sedatives used to calm patients before surgery. Accordingly, Dr. Conrad Murray may escape responsibility for Jackson’s death.

A discovery of several substances in Jackson’s system could benefit Murray should he face criminal charges, said Steve Cron, a criminal defense attorney and adjunct professor at Pepperdine University’s law school.

“The more drugs in his system, the more deniability (a doctor) has,” Cron said, provided Murray could show he didn’t know Jackson was on the other drugs.

“But what did the doctor know?” Cron asked. “Did he do his due diligence by trying to find this stuff out, or just look the other way?”

Michael was addicted to pills. Everyone knows that by now. However, the toxicology report is still surprising in that they didn’t discover Michael accidentally snorted a midget. I’m so losing that office pool.

In other, more interesting autopsy news. Billy Mays, who died back in June, was found with Vicodin, oxycodone, Xanax, Valium, benzoylecgonine (byproduct of cocaine) and temazepam in his system. Along with those was Ethanol (alcohol). A Hillsborough County press release says “from the presence of metabolites of cocaine and the absence of cocaine itself, it was concluded that Mr. Mays used cocaine in the few days prior to his death but not immediately prior to death.” His official cause of death lists cocaine, hypertensive and arteriosclerotic heart disease as contributing factors.

Who knew Billy Mays was so hardcore. Although all that shouting and excitability makes sense now. Listening to him pitch products made me tense. Like there was a masked murderer in the room next door and he was trying to warn me.
