You’d think appearing in a big gay musical with John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes and James Marsden would open a few doors for you. But you’d be wrong. Nikki Blonsky knows what I’m talking about. Blonsky, who appeared in the short-lived Huge after Hairspray, has gone back home to Long Island to sweep hair while auditioning for roles.
‘I was in the salon having my hair done and I saw her working there,’ a shocked customer told the website.
‘I couldn’t believe it. She was sweeping up hair but also doing people’s make up.’
But Nikki, who also appeared in Ugly Betty, has not given up on her dream of hitting the big time again.
‘I asked her if she was still acting and she said that she is auditioning a lot,’ she continued. ‘But she needs a day job too.’ The Daily Mail
Nikki took to her Twitter to confirm the story. She wrote, “Its true Im workin@ Superstar Salon as a makeup artist & more Im proud 2 b workin & helpin pay bills BUT ill NEVER loose sight of my dreams,” and “Just cause Im part time workin doesnt mean Im gonna give up on my dreams n dont give up on urs I might book something big soon keep positive.”
Surprising because I thought there were tons of opportunities for short, fat white chicks in Hollywood and that it wasn’t a city based on superficiality. Just look at Mike & Molly and, uh, well, that’s basically it.
