Pretty much the only reason Jennifer Lopez was on the fence about returning to American Idol for so long was to see if FOX would agree to the $2 million raise she asked for. Shortly after officially announcing her exit from American Idol, news came out that the real reason Jennifer left was because the network had not made a counteroffer to her new $17 million asking price. FOX also decided not to pick up Steven Tyler’s option who also announced his departure today saying he was going to focus on Aerosmith.
Jennifer Lopez milked as much fame and money from the show as she could anyway. And it’s not like pushing contestants off to the side to make a segment all about her helps them much anyway.
