Kellan Lutz Is a Mad Scientist Destined to Win an Oscar

Twilight supporting cast member Kellan Lutz sat down to talk to Dujour and told them he’ll win an Oscar one day. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but he believes one day he will and he doesn’t care “if [it] takes me 50 years, and I’m old. I just love what I do.”

In the meantime, he’ll be using his acting money to fund his inventions. What inventions? Um, the chemical kind? I’m not really sure. He makes it sound he’s running a meth lab or something. Though he does say he already has two patents pending.

“I actually just flew back home to Arizona to build [my inventions] with this scientist who has a lab there. It was 120 degrees and the air-conditioning was broken and I was working with 400-degree ovens, but just being in the lab station is fun! Especially because you don’t have a teacher saying you can’t do something,” he says, all in one excited breath.

“I know a lot about chemical reactions, but it’s interesting to see how you mix two chemicals together and heat starts forming,” he continues. “I even made some polyurethane!”

Polyurethane?

“It’s what bouncy balls are made out of,” he explains, matter-of-factly.

“It’s great because acting has given me the resources and platform to help charities but also the money to create my inventions and pay for the patent process. Attorneys aren’t cheap!”

I’m just picturing Kellan Lutz wiping the sweat off his brow in a 120 degree lab with Christopher Lloyd standing next to him, both staring perplexedly at a table filled with unmarked beakers and just combining all of them together haphazardly until something cool happens.
