Katy Perry Responds to Taylor Swift’s Upcoming Song About Her

In that Rolling Stone interview I linked yesterday, Taylor Swift said she wrote a song for her new album, 1989, called “Bad Blood” about a fellow performer who tried to sabotage her tour. Looks like she was talking about Katy Perry.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life? [Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy!” Swift further explained: “It had to do with business. … She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

Katy Perry responded by calling Swift a Regina George in sheep’s clothing. That’s a Mean Girls reference if you didn’t quite get it.

Taylor Swift also told RS that she hasn’t gone on any dates in 18 months which explains why she’s writing revenge songs about fellow performers instead of ex-boyfriends now. That is to say, Katy Perry’s description of Swift is pretty spot on. Swift’s albums are basically her burn books.
