Taylor Swift’s Fans Defend ‘Mother’ Against John Mayer

Taylor Swift’s call for her fans to chill out on John Mayer had the complete opposite effect. I mean, who would’ve thought that asking people who call themselves “Swifties” to be reasonable and mature on the internet would actually result in a wave of relentless hate? I’m shocked.

In the ever-twisted world of Taylor Swift’s musical journey, the songstress decided to dust off the cobwebs of “Dear John” during her Eras Tour in Minneapolis. But wait, hold your pitchforks, Swifties! Taylor kindly requests that you resist the temptation to go full-on attack mode on John Mayer. How thoughtful of the queen to bestow upon her subjects this moral directive amidst her grand spectacle.

In a moment of apparent self-awareness, Swift marvels at the “unbelievable” happenings she witnesses on stage every night.

I get to stand on this stage every single night of this tour and watch some of the most beautiful things happen. I see so many beautiful interactions happen, and I hear so many stories about friends that were made at these shows. I watch it happen, and it’s the most unbelievable thing to watch.

Swift proceeds to make it clear that her upcoming album re-release is not an invitation for her legion of fans to unleash their keyboard warrior skills in her defense. She says she couldn’t give two shits about her youth.

I’m 33 years old, I don’t care about anything that happened to me when I was 19… I’m not putting this album out so you can go on the internet and defend me against someone you think I wrote a song about 14 million years ago.

Yea, this is like a mob boss winking at his goons, telling them not to kill the rat. They’re gonna kill the rat.

The Swifties got into formation and attacked John Mayer’s Instagram, peppering it with nasty comments. So nasty. What else would you expect from this mob that wants to eradicate Taylor Swift’s back catalogue from the internet.

From Buzzfeed:

One comment reads, “mother told us we can’t bully you anymore… but she also told us to speak now and I have to speak now and say don’t you think she was too young John?”

Another Swiftie added, “I wasn’t at the concert so mother wasn’t talking to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ … count your days John.” A third said, “aw you guys are so sweet helping him count his days bc he clearly can’t count the age gap…”

The power of music to bring people together. Also, why the hell are these people calling Taylor Swift “mother”?

Swift is so conniving. So smart at manipulation. Let me bring up this old story from my past, so I can remind all you not to talk about my past.
