Get Your N.W.A. Reunion Show Info from a 20-Something White Girl

N.W.A. announces a reunion show and I have to type “N.W.A.” because I am pretty sure I’m not allowed to type that name out full as a white girl. The Lost Angles Staples Center is to host the grandfathers of “gangsta rap” and I can call it that because that’s the term they use on Wikipedia. Thanks for boosting my white credibility, Wikipedia.

After a 26 year hiatus, every surviving member except for Dr. Dre is confirmed for the June 27 reunion, but Ice Cube has led on that Dre is to make an appearance.

If you are wondering, “hmm which of the N.W.A. rappers are still kickin’ it?” let me tell you! Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella. Those middle-aged guys have more credibility than any of us, specifically me, can hope to have a quarter of. Ice Cube gushes (that’s right I can white-girl this, Ice.):

“We’re gonna be there with Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q. It’s just gonna be one of those ‘I wish I were there in L.A. nights.’ And we’re gonna rock that s**t, no problem.”

This show is expected to hype Straight Outta Compton, the N.W.A biopic releasing August 14th, that will cover the time between the group’s collaboration in the mid-Eighties through Eazy-E’s death in 1995. Ice Cube has also rumored the group is working on “fresh tracks” for the biopic.

Now, if you think you can pony up the cash for the Staples Center show, Cube is promising to “bring out some of the old favorites.” Without naming names, he assures: “We’re gonna bring back some memories up in there for sure.”

I would now like to take this moment to let everyone know this post finally helped me make the connection to what my awkward 90’s clothes with “attitude” emblazoned on the front were referencing and yes, it is giving me a 20 year later sense of dread.
