Jared Leto Sent His ‘Suicide Squad’ Girlfriend a Rat Because Flowers Would Be Too Much

Since he couldn’t be around for the beginning of the film, Jared Leto decided to send his love to his Suicide Squad co-starS with possibly the weirdest gifts possible, obviously wanting to show the cast he wasn’t slacking on getting into character.

Leto, playing the Joker in the insanely hyped-up Warner Bros film, sent his on set boo, Margot Robbie, a thoughtful love note attached to a black box complete with a live rat because, that’s what ladies are into. Or it could be, you know, possibly it’s because she playing Harley Quinn.

Robbie isn’t the only lucky recipient of a carefully curated gift. Leto sent a letter and bullets to Will Smith and a dead hog to the whole cast escorted by a video of a costumed and in character Leto.

Adam Beach, who will be playing Slipknot in the film, described Leto’s gesture as a way for him to say, “‘Guys, I can’t be there, but I want you to know I’m doing my work as hard as you guys’…And then we realized, that day, this is real.”

What we’ve learned here, clearly the sense of hype for this film is real and deserved; August 5, 2016 can’t come soon enough.
