Kanye West Had a Meltdown and Needed Kim Kardashian to Calm Him Down Before ‘SNL’ Performance

In case you missed it, Kanye West just dropped his seventh studio album, The Life Of Pablo, after premiering the first track off the album on Saturday Night Live. In case you also missed it, Kanye West is alive and well on Twitter and might very publicly be losing it. And according to an article straight out of Page Six, he almost lost it in a panic backstage at SNL and threatened to leave.

It was only after Lorne Michaels and wife Kim Kardashian calmed him down that Kanye ceased his tantrum and went on to perform. And f**k, if you missed that… go watch that now. Here, I’ll give it to you.

To me, it’s a once in a lifetime kind of performance. The influence of Chance the Rapper screams throughout the song, but so does the relative rate in which Kanye is trying to express his genius. Sources close to Kanye shared that:

Just moments leading into the live show, and during the live show, Kanye had a meltdown and threatened to walk off.

Another shares:

He freaked out about how the set was arranged. He was saying he’s ‘the greatest artist.’ He’s having regular meltdowns. Everyone’s walking on eggshells around him. He’s under a lot of stress between the new album and the fashion line.

I’m not a doctor, but I take a Xanax when I get like that and for 10 minutes of peace worldwide, I’d recommend it to everyone. Whatever he’s going through, it’s just who he is. Could he use some emotional intelligence? Sure. But would I risk the integrity of the rest of his music for it? Absolutely not.

If it takes a meltdown to get a performance like that out of Kanye, so be it.

The internet need a universally accepted “sarcasm” font, cause that’s the only way I can take this article seriously. Yes this performance was great, in all the parts that didn’t feature Kanye making any actual sounds. Everyone else in the piece, grats on a job well done.
