Twice-retired NFL star Junior Sea, 43, was found dead Wednesday morning by his housekeeper or his girlfriend at his home in Oceanside, CA. He reportedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
As everyone is reporting, this is similar to how Chicago Bears Dave Duerson took his life. Duerson shot himself in the chest on February 17. The note Duerson left indicated that he did this to preserve his brain so it could be examined for symptoms of CTE (chronic tramuatic encephalopathy), brought on by repeated blows to the head which many NFL players suffer from. The tests came back positive by the way.
The Chargers released a statement saying, “Everyone at the Chargers is in complete shock and disbelief right now…We ask everyone to stop what they’re doing and send their prayers to Junior and his family.”
The day before his suicide, Seau sent texts to his ex-wife and 3 kids saying, “Love you.”
In 2010, Junior drove his SUV off a cliff hours after being arrested for allegedly attacking his then girlfriend. At the time, Seau said he was not trying to kill himself claiming he fell asleep at the wheel.
So sad everything to live for

Why would he kill himself unbelievable…
We.all go through s**t. We all feel like dying sometimes, he just had the balls to do it!
It doesnt take balls to commit suicide, it takes balls to man-up and face your problems head on. Wish he faced life like he faced his football opponents. RIP
Balls??? Selfish coward is more like it!
Rip junior. Great player. One of a kind
My heart goes out to his family especially his kids. Suicide is A perm ate solution to a temporary problems. I will pray for his family becAuse he was truely a great Man
Wow i just learned of this and now theyre saying something about new detail of his death..depression can cosmune anyone and if there other factors such as blows to the head adding to or causing this problem and it remains untreated or mistreated these are the results of the extreme! Everyone should pay close attention for symptoms in self or friends and family..early treatment could save a life of a loved one including yoursel!
Is hard to see good sports guys go like that man is bad i saw him play against okland great player beter person .R.I.P “55”
There are many things that we can give up on, but we can’t give up on ourselves if we do everyone else wins.( Psalm 118:24) for this is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! Even though ourselves or loved ones give up on us we should never give up on the Lord Jesus Christ!
I saw something interesting on Sportscenter this morning. A neighbor of his told Seau he had been getting headaches from a concussion and Seau responded “man I’ve been getting headaches for years now”. He obviously wants his brain to be examined to finally expose the NFL for not providing enough help after retirement. Hopefully this shines the light on the NFL and how big of hard asses about post retirement medical coveragr
My job sucks, my head hurts. I’m a former marine who has seen alot of action. But I’m not gonna shoot myself in the chest, come on the guy could afford treatment, he wasted his money on girls, booze, and drugs. He took a early withdraw from all his cheating years while living like. King. Get over it!!
Wtf are you talking about you don’t know s**t about him you fucking washed up marine
What a stupid insensitive comment. A good ass Marine would not attack the dead. I kno cause I served with a lot of ’em. Sad and dumb comment.
The Original Ray Lewis!!
This is so sad…R.I.P to one if not the greatest linebacker that ever played the game…my prayers go out to all his family members…
Very sad.
