J.K. Rowling Shuts Down Racist Backlash To Hermione Casting

Instead of being stoked that Noma Dumezweni, a talented Olivier-award-winning actress, is gonna be Hermione in the upcoming play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, nerds are all a-twitter that she’s not white.

First of all: shove it up your ass.

Second of all: we all know those movies kind of got to be disasters as far as canon goes after Prisoner of Azkaban. Didn’t see anybody attacking anybody on twitter when Voldemort’s death ended up looking like some kind of Pink Floyd psychedelic light show rather than the simple mortal death described in the actual Deathly Hallows book. And if Hermione being black isn’t ‘authentic enough’ for you or whatever, it’s authentic enough for J.K. Rowling.
