Brie Larson Likely to Play Captain Marvel

Here’s what an Oscar gets you. The chance to play one of the few female superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Variety, Brie Larson, winner of an Oscar for best actress in Room, looks to be the favorite to land the Captain Marvel role. Larson hasn’t officially accepted, but money talks, bishes. Marvel plans to have Captain Marvel show up in one of their films before the actual Captain Marvel movie debuts.

If you aren’t a comic book nerd, Captain Marvel is “Carol Danvers, an air force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the super powers of strength, energy project and flight.” All those powers would’ve helped her break out of that room in umm, Room.

The interesting question is how will Marvel sell Captain Marvel toys? They nixed a female villain in Iron Man 3 fearing that no one would buy a toy with boobs. Perhaps they’ll dress down Captain Marvel and flatten out her breasts.

Also, this means Ronda Rousey won’t be getting the Captain Marvel she’s been campaigning for. Guess it’ll be back to the bargain bin for her in Road House.
