Move over, Jared Leto. There’s a new damaged boy in town. Okay, so maybe not new, but freshly diagnosed by Dr. David Letterman. Following their release of the Donald’s tax returns, The New York Times invited the former late night host for a little Q&A on the potential ruler of the free world. And believe me, he’s as shocked as the rest of is that it has gotten this far. With all the slander, racist remarks and lack of planning, it’s amazing that his fan club has gotten this big. But blinding charisma isn’t always a plus, Letterman details:
If you can do that in a national forum, that says to me that you are a damaged human being. If you can do that, and not apologize, you’re a person to be shunned.
Apologies, don’t make money, David! But when asked about Jimmy Fallon’s treatment of the bigot, Letterman flashed back to the times he had the millionaire on his show:
Nobody took him seriously, and people loved him when he would come on the show. I would make fun of his hair, I would call him a slumlord, I would make fun of his ties. And he could just take a punch like nothing. He was the perfect guest.
What I hear: We could make fun of him. He flailed. We could do nothing to help the people he was actively hurting but at least he wasn’t doing in front of an audience. But now Letterman understands the importance of being a bit harsher. Had Trump been a guest on Letterman in 2016:
I would have said something like, ‘Hey, nice to see you. Now, let me ask you: what gives you the right to make fun of a human who is less fortunate, physically, than you are?
And then he got medical.
But if you see somebody who’s not behaving like any other human you’ve known, that means something. They need an appointment with a psychiatrist. They need a diagnosis and they need a prescription.
So maybe Letterman should host Letterman again and we’ll turn this mother into an intervention.
Like that mother fucker has room to talk
He looks like a crazy old man.
