I don’t know what to call this dress. There are a bunch of drapes-looking things on the top that hide what is probably an amazing mom bod. Blake Lively walked the red carpet in it at this years’ People’s Choice Awards.
Lively received the award for “Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress” in The Shallows. Uhh, ok, the people have spoken I suppose.
She accepted the award and used her speech to thank the Spice Girls.
So I was always an ambitious kid, so I set a goal for myself as a kid and I knew if I could accomplish this that I would be successful and I would be happy—and that was to meet the Spice Girls. Still haven’t accomplished it; it was very ambitious. No, but what was so neat about that is that they’re all so distinctly different and they were women and they owned who they were, and that was my first introduction into girl power.
Girl power you say. She went on to say:
And I’m watching this movie, and the women nominated in this category, and when you guys voted for this, you didn’t just vote for this movie or me, you voted for girl power. And so thank you. Thank you for — it’s true! And men voted for girl power too, and you guys are awesome for doing that.
Haven’t seen this movie but IMDB says it’s about a surfer stranded 200 yards from the shore, encircled by sharks and she has to use her ingenuity to get back to shore. My guess is she makes it? But I could be wrong.
If this is girl power, fine. If the Spice Girls inspired her and The Shallows inspires other girls in the next generation, then it’s worth it. Although, it’d be funny if she was trapped by sharks, flailed around helplessly and Zac Efron had to swim out to save her. “See what happens when you leave the kitchen???”
