Charlie Hunnam Drew Inspiration from Conor McGregor for ‘King Arthur’ Role

You can catch Charlie Hunnam slaying people this weekend as King Arthur in the movie King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. It’s probably the closest thing you’ll see to Conor McGregor fighting this year.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly:

“Conor McGregor was somebody that I drew a lot of inspiration from and that Guy (Ritchie) and I discussed a lot.”

Hunnam also said that he watched a bunch of McGregor fights to get himself fired up for the role.

While I was playing Arthur, I thought an enormous amount about Conor McGregor, the reigning lightweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His attitude is: “There is no opponent. I am fighting myself in the octagon. It’s only me and my own fears and the execution of my own ability that is going to win or lose a fight for me.”

I haven’t seen King Arthur, but if there’s not a scene with a peasant talking down to the King and Hunnam responding with, “Who the f**k is this guy?” then I’ll consider the entire movie a disappointment.

I guess we know who is playing Conor in the eventual movie made about his life.
