Shailene Woodley Ponders Running For Congress Because Every Celebrity Is Doing It

I have not yet seen Big Little Lies because there are a million great shows on television and I just now got HBO back. But I love Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley, so it’s on my list.

The show was nominated for a bunch of Emmys, including Woodley and Laura Dern for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series and Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman for Best Actress in a Limited Series. Instead of a group of old men deciding who wins, all four ladies will enter a battle royale to see who truly is the best actress in the group.

Well, maybe not.

Here’s what Woodley had to say about the nominations in an interview with the New York Times.

“We all played very different roles, had very different story lines, and there is no competition. A win for any of us is a win for all of us.”

That doesn’t sound as fun as a battle royal.

Having not seen the show, I can’t tell you what it’s about. Based on the title, I assume everyone is living a giant lie while telling little lies. This is perfect for Shailene, who might run for Congress one day.

There was a point last year when I was working for Bernie Sanders where I thought, “Huh, maybe I’ll run for Congress in a couple years.” And you know what? I’m not going to rule it out. Who knows? Life is big, and I’m young.

Of all the celebrities who have mentioned running for office in the past year, Woodley is probably the smartest of them. But still, knock it off with this. Trump ruined it for everyone.

Speaking of Trump, here’s what he was trying to say when he was like, “There are two sides to violence.” In this quote, Woodley is talking about her abusive husband on the show.

They’re bullying out of pain and internal conflict and brokenness. Obviously there is no complacency on my end for any act of violence. But it’s worth looking at why we have so many rapes and acts of sexual violence. Many young men and women feel out of control or that they don’t have support for the traumas they’re experiencing, and I think paying attention to that and providing support would create a world where we have less acts of violence.

But how does she feel about Nazis?
