John Legend Now the Most Successful Black Man Ever

John is officially a Legend.

The actor/singer/husband/father/awesome dude took home a Creative Arts Emmy on Sunday night for his role in the NBC musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The award puts him in exclusive status as an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) award winner. He’s the first black man — besides Tracy Jordan — to achieve EGOT status.

Now, a Creative Arts Emmy might not be on the level of a prime time Emmy, but Legend is nominated as outstanding actor in a limited series or movie at the prime time Emmys next week. If he wins next week, it will further elevate his EGOT status.

Legend has way too Grammys to run down, so I’m not going to bother. Any time you hear a John Legend song on the radio, it’s probably won a Grammy. If it hasn’t won a Grammy, it’s because the voters simply got tired of giving him the award. Kind of like how Michael Jordan should have been the MVP every year, but Karl Malone has an extra MVP award.

He won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Glory” and a co-producing Tony for Best Revival of a Play for the Broadway show Jitney.

If you want to feel bad about your life and lack of awards on your shelf, don’t watch the next video.

Legend puts up his new Emmy next to his GOT as wife Chrissy Teigen says “perfect.”

So, how does a freshly minted EGOT winner celebrate? By making pancakes, of course.

Dude is a friggin’ EGOT winner and still has to make his own pancakes while his wife, who has put out multiple cookbooks, just films him. Come on, Chrissy.

Congratulations to John Legend. He’s better than all of us at everything pertaining to entertainment and he’s married to a supermodel. Now all he needs to do is get Kanye West under control.
