Tom Cruise is Not Screwing Around With COVID Safety Measures

In order for Hollywood to start making movies and TV shows again, they’ve had to put some pretty strict regulations in place to avoid soundstages becoming COVID hotspots. It’s pretty important everyone follows these guidelines because unlike a lot of jobs, you can’t operate a camera or a boom mic or a lighting rig from home; people need to be there in person and if they can’t make that work than the entire industry is going to have to shut down.

Tom Cruise is not taking these safety guidelines lightly, and the actor absolutely lost it on Mission: Impossible crew members who weren’t following them, The Sun reports.

And he flew into a rage after spotting two of the crew standing within two metres of each other.

An audio tape captured Cruise shouting: “If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again.”

He went on: “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. “We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers.

“That’s it. No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f***ing homes because our industry is shut down. “

I have to say, as rants from actors at crews go, Tom’s was the most responsible and correct one I’ve ever heard. Cruise has apparently put a lot of effort and money into making sure that the film could proceed and he’s not wrong about those jobs being at risk. Unlike almost every other country in the world, the US government has offered almost no assistance to citizens outside a one-time check and a giant slush fund that was theoretically to help small businesses pay employees who were having to stay home but actually went to people like Tom Brady and Kanye West. Tom Cruise is doing what he needs to do to keep everyone safe so that they can make a living in these scary times. Hopefully the vaccines that are rolling out will mean the end of this pandemic by the end of next year, but while it’s still ongoing Tom Cruise is right to be strict about following the rules.
