Despite previous reports, UK singer Cheryl Cole is not a lock to be one of the judges on X Factor. News to Cheryl because she’s sure she is and is apartment hunting in LA right now.
A friend of her boyfriend Derek Hough said producers of the US show aren’t convinced Cheryl is a big enough draw for American audiences and are leaning towards bigger, more established stars like Katy Perry or Rihanna.
“Everyone thinks Cheryl has the judging job on US X Factor in the bag.
“They are more keen to get a big US star like Katy or Rihanna on the panel – someone who will bring credibility to the show and who is already popular in the US.”
“Simon has been the only one pushing for her and trying to convince everyone that she’ll be a big hit.
“They want to see if the American public warm to her before she takes on such a high-profile role in one of the biggest shows on US TV.
“There have been lots of heated conversations and debates about it.”
Alright, but who’s going to be the one to tell her? Maybe they can just wait until the first day of taping so she can find out for herself. Sure, it’ll be awkward when she sees the judging table already filled with three people but it’ll be way less awkward than having to talk to her face to face.
