Steven Seagal: Master of Slap Fighting

Since there’s no interesting news today, let’s keep on watching be delusional. Earlier, I posted an interview with Seagal which mentioned he was sparring with light heavyweight Feijao which gave me pause because, in it, Karyn Bryant mentioned he got a couple of good “slaps” in. Interesting if only for the fact that you don’t slap in sparring. Turns out that’s still the case. Unless you’re Steven Seagal. The sparring session is below.

Looks like Steven gave Feijao a lesson in Slap-Fu, the ancient art of sissy fighting.

Then there’s this interview with Ariel Helwani where Steven Seagal isn’t sure if he was being mocked or not. Helwani is fantastic at subtlety.

Moves that people thought were illegal but really aren’t? Hmm. Could it be? Could we see UFC’s first KO by Power Bitch Slap? That Steven Seagal. Such an innovator!

There’s so much arrogance in mma. The notion of a sixth degree black belt in aikido teaching an mma fighter a few techniques isn’t at all ridiculous.

You dont know anything about martial arts if you are so disrespectful to Steven Seagal. If you can accomplish what he has in Aikido then prove it. like it or not he is a respected icon in the martial arts.

UFC/MMA folks are always disrespectful of other arts and they never imagine that they could be beaten. Seagal really is a 7th degree black belt in Aikido. And he trained in Japan in the old school Aikido schools with the family that started Aikido.
Seagal knows a thing or 2 about fighting and self defense. So because he was going easy on a guy,he is a sissy? I always thought rolling around on the ground like a little bitch was sissy fighting? In fact, grappling by definition is not fighting at all but rather a way to avoid fighting-just like when a boxer clinches to stop the opponents punches. Ha! But of course MMA guys think that they are the best of the best. Yeah sure, best at rolling around and clinching. I mean Lesnar was practically a novice when he won the UFC championship! Why? Because you really dont even have to be that good to fight in UFC/MMA. You get a failed NFL player with a few amateur wrestling contests like Lesnar and you have a UFC Dana White hype job! The fad is over,MMA/UFC is corny and so are those glitter covered “tap out” t shirts.

I mean the video is clearly a light hearted demo. Not a street fight. It’s not sissy fighting,it’s called a DEMONSTRATION.

To the lame writer of this article on which we’re commenting: they weren’t actually sparring, lamer!!! They were just playing around. ((roll eyes)) If they were SPARRING, Seagal would have changed out of his street clothes and put on an outfit appropriate to that, and he would have used harder contact pressure, and would probably have flipped the other guy over a few times.

Regardless, we both know all of those slaps to the head could have been strikes to nerve centers or fists to the face, and were slaps to the head only because Seagal was just playing around. Blows to the right side of the face are normally blocked with the right
arm, correct? Well, he already struck with the right arm, and Segal had immobilized it, and tapped the right side of the head to demonstrate that he
could have hit him in the face with his fist had he so desired.

The other guy had punched, and Seagal had trapped his strike and then counterstriked. No way to block because the hand that would block is trapped.

It is also important to note that the other guy did not get a single strike in to Seagal. Experienced UFC jock, considered to be a good UFC fighter, and he can’t get a single strike past an Aikido master. That’s pretty definitive.

Any martial artist watching this video knows that this is a master having fun and playing around with someone of inferior skill. Seagal proves in this video that despite being out of shape, he’s still very quick and very skilled, and has nothing to fear from the average UFC jock, or even a champion UFC jock.

The guy is a 7th Dan. He can do a lot of damage if he wants.
