Madonna Was Too White for 2Pac

2Pac and Madonna were a thing for a bit back in the 90’s. Pac dumped Madonna because celebrity relationships rarely work out and they were both young, rich, and famous. There was a zero percent chance that a 2Pac and Madonna relationship was going to work out for more than, I don’t know, two weeks?

Besides the fact that they were both celebrities living two different lifestyles, it turns out at Madonna being white was the biggest issue.

Pac confessed as much in a newly surfaced letter that he wrote in jail.

“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting. But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”

Eh, I think it could have jeopardize’d Madonna’s career. This is 1994 we’re talking about. A white woman dating a black man wasn’t exactly seen as being progressive. It was more like, “I wonder when he’s going to kill her.”

Pac also warns Madonna to be careful, saying that, “Everyone is not as honorable as they seem.” The end of the letter really feels like Pac projecting his own thoughts about his life to Madonna more than speaking about her.

The letter was written at 4:30 AM. Between this and Jay-Z writing his new album at 4:44 AM, I’m assuming that all rappers do their best writing between 4 and 5 AM. Maybe I should take note of this.

The letter will be auctioned off starting July 19 and is expected to sell for over $100,000. The last Pac letter, a raunchy sex note to another woman, sold for over $170K. Which begs the question, why are people spending so much money on letters written to other women?
