Beyoncé? What Beyoncé? Tweets About Bey Disappear After CMA’s

The only reason that anyone north of Tennessee knows the CMA’s were on last night is because Beyoncé made an appearance.

Beyoncé partnered with the Dixie Chicks to do a version of her song “Daddy Problems.” It was easily the highlight of the evening. What’s odd is that all evidence of Beyoncé’s appearance has been erased by official CMA social media.

@CountryMusic, the official Twitter of the CMA’s now has no tweets about Beyoncé, no clips on their Instagram, and she wasn’t even listed as a performer. I guess a country audience can only be nice to a black girl for about 10 minutes at a time, otherwise their red necks will explode.

Today, CMA released an official statement on E! News:

“CMA has not erased any mentions of Beyonce’s performance on the CMA Awards. In advance of the broadcast, CMA removed a five-second promotional clip from ABC.com and CMA’s Facebook page. The promo was unapproved and CMA removed it prior to the broadcast. Beyonce’s performance with Dixie Chicks was a highlight of the evening and we are continuing to share the amazing full-length performance clip via our official social channels.”

CMA reposted a couple of pieces of Instagram evidence that Beyonce really was there, including a collage where she’s the only interesting person in a sea of whiteness.

If Beyonce will return to the CMA’s, we’ll never know. But we do know that Beyonce doesn’t need any of us. If we continue to wrong her, she may have to return to her home planet of magical singers and take her gift away from us.
