The Rock, The Dwayne, The Johnson Named Sexiest Man Alive

We all know Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but did you know he started off as a broke ass dude with 7 bucks in his pocket before becoming one of the richest dudes in Hollywood? The newly crowned Sexiest Man Alive talked about it all in an interview with PEOPLE.

On his childhood in Honolulu:

“I was a challenging kid. I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have. I was getting arrested multiple times but at the same time, always very respectful to my teachers and elders. I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be.”

On his failed start trying to be an NFL Player:

“I played football for 10 years with one goal, which was to play in the NFL, which meant we’d never be evicted again. It meant that I could buy my parents their first home, their cars, whatever they wanted. So that failure was tough; that was a tough pill.”

Damn.

“I literally looked in my wallet and I had a five, a one and change. So I rounded it up to seven. It was a real rock bottom for me.”

After making it as a champion wrestler turned Hollywood star, he cofounded a production company called Seven Bucks Productions after that low point. He hopes to inspire others facing challenges to overcome them, as he had.
