In the saddest television news of the day, T.J. Miller is leaving Silicon Valley after the fifth season.
Miller, who plays Erlich Bachman, is the funniest character on the show and the dynamic definitely won’t be the same without him.
No real details have come out surrounding Miller’s departure, but HBO did release the following statement:
“The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season 5. In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations.”
Miller’s movie schedule may have been one reason for the parting of ways. In the next couple of years he’s scheduled to be filming Deadpool 2, Ready Player One, Walden, Underwater, and How To Train Your Dragon 3. I know Thomas Middleditch is helping Verizon, but Miller’s schedule is just a bit busier.
While this news upsets me, I am excited to see how the Elrich character is written out of the show. Anything less than the biggest blaze of glory of all-time will be a disappointment.
