McDonald’s Is Getting You Your Damn Szechuan Sauce

Back in April, the Rick & Morty premiere featured Rick wanting McDonald’s to bring back their szechuan sauce from 1998 when they were promoting Mulan. This wasn’t as random as it seemed because show co-creator Justin Roiland actually really loved it 19 years ago which is weird because it was gross. The entire episode started a movement asking McDonald’s to bring it back.

Two months later, McDonald’s finally delivered. At least to Roiland. Sent as a package from Dimension C-1998M, the 64 oz container has enough sauce to keep Roiland dipping his nuggets for at least a month.

Inside was also a note where McDonald’s explained that it took months to bring it back but they’d finally did it. Apparently Dimension C-1998M is a dimension where it’s always 1998 every day. The note goes on to say that they wish they could bring back more but keeping the portal open would lead to “puka shells, bucket hats and boy bands as far as the eye could see.” They then promise that a few lucky fans would get to experience the sauce.

And this is how McDonald’s will win over fans of Rick & Morty. No longer will they go to Taco Bell when they get high. They’ll go to McDonald’s where there’s a slim chance of szechuan sauce and an even better chance of not getting diarrhea.
