Lady Gaga Gives Dr. Luke the Runaround in His Lawsuit Against Kesha

Dr. Luke, who isn’t a doctor, just a sleazy record producer, seems to be having a hell of a time getting Lady Gaga to be grilled by his lawyers about her friend Kesha’s accusations that Dr. Luke raped her repeatedly over a period of three years. Even if Kesha’s accusations aren’t true, there’s pretty solid proof Not A Dr. Luke is a piece of s**t in a general way regardless.

Mr. Luke is currently suing Kesha for defamation over her allegations against him, and he’s been trying to depose Lady Gaga for months for some reason. Gaga’s people have said she’s not a material witness to the case and she has better things to do, the later of which, at least, is 100% true.

Gaga’s team released the following statement to Variety:

As Lady Gaga‘s legal team will present to the court, she has provided all of the relevant information in her possession and is at most an ancillary witness in this process. Dr. Luke’s team is attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga‘s role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests.

Luke’s lawyers released this statement:

Dr. Luke’s counsel served a subpoena on Lady Gaga because she has relevant information regarding, among other things, false statements about Dr. Luke made to her by Kesha. This motion has become necessary because Dr. Luke’s counsel has not been able to obtain, despite repeated request, a deposition date from Lady Gaga.

Now, technically, if Kesha did say anything defamatory about Luke to Gaga, that would fit the legal definition of defamation. Also, since he has been granted a subpoena, she’s going to have to sit for a deposition. It’s not really up to Lady Gaga if she’s an important part of the case or not, but one can hardly blame her for making it as difficult as possible for him. Because again, rapist or not, he’s definitely a gigantic asshole. I mean, he’s a guitar player who calls himself “Dr. Luke,” that’s not a thing a person you don’t want to punch in the face does.
