Drew Barrymore Throws Jake Gyllenhaal Under the Bus to Avoid Eating a Turkey’s Testicle

James Corden is a weird dude, and not just because of Gavin & Stacey, although the idea of falling in love with a Welsh woman on the phone is highly improbable. Have you ever tried talking to someone from Wales? Gavin & Stacey should have been about five minutes long and consisted of Gavin repeatedly saying “Wait, what? I didn’t quite understand what you said, could you repeat it?”

Corden is also weird because he plays celebrity Fear Factor on The Late Late Show, a game he calls “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” in which guests have to answer questions honestly or eat something gross like fish eyes or bird saliva. They also had a thousand-year-old egg, which is a delicacy in China and not actually a thousand years old. Have you ever wanted to see Drew Barrymore totally throw Jake Gyllenhaal under the bus? Drew actually drinks bird saliva rather than answer Corden’s question on which show was her least favorite to do, Ellen, Colbert or Fallon. I’d have said Fallon, the internet hates him now because he failed to uphold the tough journalistic standards of Jay Leno when he had Donald Trump on his show and ruffled his hair, though apparently not hard enough. John Boyega, the night’s other guest, was next in the hot seat, and ate some weird-looking giant insect to avoid revealing his Star Wars salary.

When Barrymore was on the hot seat again, Corden didn’t think she’d answer the question, which asked her to rank her co-stars, Adam Sandler, Hugh Grant and Jake Gyllenhaal, in order of talent or to eat a turkey testicle. She eventually decided on Sandler, then Grant, then Gyllenhall, because there was no way on Earth she was going to eat a turkey’s ball, saying “I’m sorry, Jake, it was the turkey testicle.” I was honestly surprised Adam Sandler ended up ahead of Hugh Grant. Corden didn’t get off easy himself, as after telling a story about stealing a candle from Mariah Carey to avoid eating the thousand-year-old egg, he ended up eating the turkey ball Drew couldn’t to avoid saying who his worst-behaved guest was. I personally would have sold them down the river. I’ll bet it was Tom Hanks, no one is that nice all the time.
