Jussie Smollett Makes Public Statement Against Advice of Council, Still Thinks We’re All Idiots

Fox

In a way, I feel sorry for Jussie Smollett. I feel that the city of Chicago has gone way out of their way to punish him for something relatively minor and if he had made a formal plea bargain that a judge agreed to where he admitted he was guilty and got some community service then that could have been the end of it and it would an appropriate resolution to a very minor and exceptionally dumb incident.

The problem is that Jussie Smollett won’t shut up about how innocent he is and how he really did get jumped by two white Trump supporters who recognized him from Empire after someone else with handwriting suspiciously similar to Jussie Smollett sent him fake anthrax and no one cared. It frankly insults our intelligence.

Fox News reports that Smollett has given his first interview in two years to Marc Lamont Hill and he still banging the “I didn’t lie, two guys yelling about Trump jumped me, the guys with the check from me with ‘for hate crime hoax’ on the memo line are the liars” drum.

“These are the things that people don’t necessarily know because the lies and the things that were not true were yelled from the rooftop,” he said. “There is a tape… there is something, but of course it cuts off right before it happens.”

Hill interrupted to ask why the tape cuts off.

“I certainly didn’t have the power to cut the tape,” Smollett said. “So who cut it?”

I think Smollett is referring to the camera he knew the exact location of for reason that was not filming when he was attacked.

“There would be no reason for me to do something like this,” he said. “There would be no reason for me to do something foolish… and I do think that if you look at all of the things that were happening for me, and then for all of the opportunities and all of the money… whatever, that I have lost at this point, if in fact what they said was true, the smart thing to do would be to admit that. At least there would be a place to work back from. This is bulls—t. It’s bulls—t.”

Look, I don’t think what Smollett allegedly did here, the hoax is that bad. Sure it wasted the police’s time, but they waste most of their time on drugs and prostitutes and vandalism instead of solving real crimes, and they’ve wasted even more time on prosecuting him. Sure, he’s infuriating and his story is completely unbelievable, but is it worth spending all this time on if you aren’t making fun of him?
