Maria Bakalova Says She Was Scared of Rudy Giuliani While Filming ‘Borat 2’

Have you seen Borat Subsequent Moviefilm yet? It was on Amazon Prime which I assume you all have because I’ll be god damned if I’m waiting more than two days for a potato ricer I ordered at 3 A.M. if you haven’t seen it, go watch it and come back.

Okay, we good?

Man Rudy Giuliani is creepy, isn’t he? And that’s not just coming from me, that’s coming from Maria Bakalova who played Borat’s daughter Tutar in the film.

Dave Itzkoff of The New York Times asked her if she was scared at any point making the film, and here’s what she said.

Sacha, he’s my nonbiological father and he will be like that forever. So I trusted him from the beginning and I knew he would never put me in a dangerous situation. At the same time, we had a security team that was able to save us in a moment. Maybe the scene when we were at the hotel and Rudy Giuliani called the police, I was kind of scared that something would happen. But fortunately, we escaped.

When Itzkoff pressed her on Giuliani, she said “Sacha jumped into the room quickly, because he’s been worried about me. So, if he were late, I don’t know how things were going to go. But he came just in time.” It does sound like everyone believed Rudy was about to get very inappropriate.

Honestly, I do believe Rudy when he says he was just tucking his shirt into his pants during that scene. But I also believe he was doing his best to get her into bed before and during that and was about to resume trying when Cohen burst into the room yelling “She’s 15, she’s too old for you!” And, I mean, he didn’t think she was 15 like the character in the movie was stated to be, she doesn’t really look 15, it’s not like he did anything wrong. The man just has all the charm and charisma of a festering boil. Which I think is the nickname George W. Bush gave him.
