Chris Cuomo Suspended by CNN for Aiding Brother’s Sexual Harassment Allegations

CNN suspended Chris Cuomo today for a deeper involvement than was known previously in the sexual harassment allegations against his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

NY Times wrote an article detailing Cuomo’s involvement.

Chris Cuomo pressed to take on a greater role in crafting his brother’s defense, including phoning into strategy calls and using his media contacts to keep tabs on reporters pursuing stories about the governor. At one point, he even ran down a secondhand tip that another woman accusing the governor of unwanted advances at a wedding was lying. (She was not.)

So abusing his power.

CNN sympathizes with Chris Cuomo though, even while suspending him.

When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second.

Ok hypocrites. You broke our rules, but we get it. He was fam!

You have Cuomo up there, one of the highest rated and most watched shows on CNN, doing what he can behind the scenes to minimize negative press on his brother Andrew. Even “investigating” leads on accusers:

And he used his contacts to try to aid the defense in other ways. After The New York Times reported in early March that the governor had made an unwanted advance on a young woman at a wedding, Chris Cuomo had texted Ms. DeRosa to say, “I have a lead on the wedding girl,” who he believed had potentially been “put up to it” to hurt the governor.

Step aside Letitia James, Chris is on the case now. This is like those people who watch Netflix cold case shows and come up with their own investigations.

Please Don Lemon, say they don’t have dirt on you.

Here’s CNN’s full statement:

The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense. The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions. When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.
