Harvey Weinstein Now Accused of Multiple Rapes

Man, things just keep getting worse for poor Harvey Weinstein. He probably feels boxed in and trapped, like he doesn’t have any options, like a young actress taken to a hotel room by a powerful movie producer and propositioned for sex with the implication that saying no will negatively impact her career. Which is a thing that’s turning out to be the least of the allegations against Weinstein.

The New York Times has posted another piece about Weinstein’s inappropriate conduct,  which details Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosanna Arquette and Angelina Jolie’s experiences as young actresses with the legendary producer.

Paltrow says that when she was filming Emma, her breakthrough role, Weinstein took her to his hotel room, started touching her and asked her for a massage. Which seems to be his M.O. and a bit of a weird fetish for him, the massage thing. It’s a recurring theme in most of these stories.

She refused his advances, she said, and confided in Brad Pitt, her boyfriend at the time. Mr. Pitt confronted Mr. Weinstein, and soon after, the producer warned her not to tell anyone else about his come-on. “I thought he was going to fire me,” she said.

I mean, that’s what sexual harassment laws are meant to prevent; someone using their power over another person to extort sex. But Weinstein’s shitty behavior doesn’t end there, because The New Yorker has reported that at least three women are claiming Weinstein raped them.

Three women—among them [Asia] Argento and a former aspiring actress named Lucia Evans—told me that Weinstein raped them, allegations that include Weinstein forcibly performing or receiving oral sex and forcing vaginal sex. Four women said that they experienced unwanted touching that could be classified as an assault.

Ronan Farrow, who wrote The New Yorker piece, went on to say in it:

Four of the women I interviewed cited encounters in which Weinstein exposed himself or masturbated in front of them.

Weinstein can claim that he’s a product of a different time when taking actresses to the casting couch was okay all he wants, he’s not from a time when rape was okay.
