Kanye West Wing: Kanye Had a Crazy Meeting With President Trump in the Oval Office

If there’s one thing I need more of in my life, it’s Kanye West. I really want to like Kanye because he was so good at knowing how much George Bush cared about black people, but he seems less good at identifying the level of caring about black people presidents have as he’s gotten older. I say this because West was in the Oval Office to meet with Donald Trump to talk about prison reform, something Donald Trump could not care less about.

Let me tell you a little bit about the Central Park Five. In 1989, a woman jogging in Central Park was attacked, raped, and nearly died, spending almost two weeks in a coma. Five young men, four black and one Latino, all under the age of 16, were rounded up by the police and coerced into confessing to committing the rape. DNA collected at the scene didn’t match any of the children and all came from a single person, but they were all convicted and spent years in jail. Before their trials, Donald Trump bought a full page ad in the New York Daily News calling for the death penalty to be reinstated, making obvious references to the assault. In 2016, after their convictions had been vacated because the actual perpetrator confessed, Donald Trump still insisted they were guilty.

No matter how cool Kanye West feels in his MAGA hat (he said it makes him feel like Superman), Donald Trump isn’t going to suddenly spearhead prison reform because Donald Trump doesn’t care about black people. You used to know when a president didn’t care about black people, Kanye, what happened, man?

One of the more interesting things to come out of the meeting is that Kanye West’s iPhone password is 000000. Seriously. If you ever find Kanye’s phone, you can unlock it but just hitting 0 until it unlocks. Just don’t expect any other famous rappers to answer your texts.

“You are tasting a fine wine,” Mr. West said, praising himself. “It has complex notes to it.”

I love that so much. It’s the kind of thing only a lunatic would say. And I’m not saying that Kanye liking Trump has anything to do with mental illness, it doesn’t. Kanye is rich, of course he likes Republicans now. At one point West said “We can empower the pharmaceuticals and make more money.” That’s all you need to know, Kanye thinks big pharma guys like Martin Shkreli need to be empowered to make more money. Of course he’s a Republican.
