Lena Dunham Says the Most Misogynist Thing You Can Do Is Make Fun of Lena Dunham

You may have heard Lena Dunham referred to as a “white feminist” in the past, meaning she calls herself a feminist but she only cares about the issues that affect rich white women. It’s the sort of feminism you see at outlets that are always talking about the gender pay gap in Hollywood, but says raising the minimum wage to $15 and having single payer healthcare is misogynist. A lot more women will benefit from a higher minimum wage than will benefit from Hollywood actresses making a few million dollars more in tentpole films.

I honestly don’t think Lena Dunham is a white feminist though, I think Lena Dunham is a narcissist who dresses her completely inability to see past the tip of her own nose as feminism. Dunham proves this point over and over again, most recently on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live when host Andy Cohen asked her who the biggest misogynist in Hollywood was and she said that it was Daniel Tosh because he made a joke at her expense once, six fucking years ago.

Even as she’s thinking, she says she’s trying to think of someone who said something about her body. You know Harvey Weinstein told a bunch of women he’d ruin their careers if they didn’t suck his dick, right? That’s probably a little more misogynistic than saying Lena Dunham is fat. She said Tosh “said a really unkind thing about my breasts, but he said it in a context in which I felt he was shutting down a lot of women for having bodies he didn’t consider to be normative.” Who talks like that?

But let’s look at what Daniel Tosh said and see how it shuts down women with bodies he doesn’t consider to be normative.

Tosh says, “Getting pepper sprayed is like receiving a money shot from Satan. The only thing that’ll burn your eyes worse is watching that chick get naked on Girls.” That is not shutting down a lot of women, that is just an insult aimed at Lena Dunham.

What’s really telling is that when she was asked to name the biggest misogynist in Hollywood, Dunham didn’t even for a second consider anyone who wasn’t mean to her personally. Because that’s who Lena Dunham is, the voice for the most selfish kind of feminism anyone has ever imagined. If Lena Dunham was a suffragette, her sign would say “Give Lena Dunham The Vote!”
