Say Goodbye to Pete Davidson’s Tattoos, the Actor is Having Them All Removed

If you look at Pete Davidson, the first thing you notice about him is that he looks like one of those people who breathes exclusively through his mouth. But after that his most distinctive feature is probably his tattoos. He’s gotten a lot of them and almost every one of them was ill-advised. It’s like he turned his body into a monument for poor decision-making.

Well, now Pete’s becoming an actual star and it turns out having your body covered in dumb tattoos of politicians who never won a contested election in their lives and every ex you dated for a week kind of makes it harder to be a movie star. It’s not that people won’t cast you, it’s that you have to show up to set four hours early every day so the make-up artist can cover them all up so the movie doesn’t have to explain why Jim the cab driver was so in love with Arianna Grande.

It was at a Q&A with Judd Apatow about Davidson’s breakthrough film, The King of Staten Island, that Davidson revealed it was easier to have the tattoos removed once than to spend all that time having them covered on every movie he does. I imagine this was a pretty big decision and even though I thought getting that many tattoos, and so many of them being so stupid, was the behavior of a lunatic, I know a lot of them had a special meaning to Davidson and so it’s pretty melancholy that he’s getting them removed for the sake of his career.

Pete is actually kind of the Guy Fieri of comedic actors to me. I don’t really care for him or the things he does, but I do kind of feel bad being mean to him. Guy Fieri is apparently one of the nicest people on the planet, so while his food and style don’t appeal to me, I don’t think I could ever actually bear any ill will to the dude.

Pete Davidson strikes me the same way. He just kind of seems like a dick to me, but Bill Burr and Dave Chappelle seem to like him and I don’t know the guy personally, so I could be wrong. And aside from the tattoos, he’s an idiot in a lot of the same ways I’m an idiot. I’m still going to ruthlessly mock him when he does something stupid, which should be every other week or so, but in the back of my mind I’ll be pulling for the guy.
